IS WARRANTY FOR PS3 STILL VALID?

A friend of mine is selling me a PS3 320 GB that he received AS A GIFT on the Jimmy Fallon show.

If I buy it from him, would I still be covered under the PS 3 1 year warranty clause?

And if the answer is no, can I get a warranty for the PS3?

  1. it depends when he got it if it was a year ago or not if it hasnt been a year it will still be covered. but you can always buy a new warranty off the playstation store if the other ends. but ask your friend when he got it.

  2. I called yesterday and they told me if I don’t have the recite they’ll check the information on the ps3 to see if it’s still under the year warranty. And they said if it is I won’t need a recite but if it isn’t then I would need one.

  3. if it is under one year old and you have the original receipt you can buy an extended warranty and add 2 years after you register it , No receipt means no warranty for anyone , you must have the ORIGINAL receipt that shows the purchase date and serial number before you can get any warranty repairs.

they`ll still sell you the extended warranty but without that receipt it won`t be valid , either way it probably won`t break before the warranty period ends unless you abuse it , I still have a 40 gig ps3 from 2008 that works like new , they are pretty reliable with proper care and use.

  4. Technically warranties are non-transferable, but you need a receipt or other proof of purchase of some sort to redeem the 1-year warranty. You can purchase an extended warranty off the PSN but only while the original warranty is still valid.

If you don’t have proof of purchase, you will have to send it in out of warranty and pay for the repair.
