Can someone explain XBOX LIVE?

I’m gonna buy a XBOX 360 Pro system in a few days, and I wanna buy XBOX LIVE. XBOX LIVE comes seperately right. You have to buy a card, and type in the code to the 360.right? Tell me if I’m wrong, but the more points you have the better. You use the points to download games/videos with the card. And the card last one year. And how does the payment work? You have spend 5$ a month for it, or you could just flat out pay 60$.

Tell me if I’m right. Thanks in advance.

  1. Live is something you pay for separately. You can buy a 3,6 or 12 mo card. it’s $60 for 12 mo. If you sign up with a Credit card you can pay by the month and it’s 7.99 you can also pay by the year with a CC too. Be advised that at the end of the time it will rebill your CC automatically. You use the microsoft points to purchase things from the xbox live market place. Like your subscription you can use a pointscard or a CC to purchase points. Keep in mind the more points you buy the less it costs you for points. once you put the points into your account the are good forever so don’t worry about the card going bad just put it right in and your good to go. You just spend the points as you wish.

  2. Ok you have two things

    1) Xbox live membership

    2) Microsoft Points

    1) You need to subscribe to xbox live gold membership if you want play online. but silver membership is free

    2) Ms Points are able to buy some game contents, videos from Marketplace

    1600 Points cost $20

  3. To tell you the truth, Xbox Live is more of a competitive approach to online video-game playing. Yes you type in codes online when you buy a card but the cards you buy do NOT give you any points. You get “points” for completing various tasks in the games you buy things with these points called “Gamerscores” and the tasks are called “Achievements” also I think the Xbox live cards range from 30$-60$. However you may only play online with an Xbox Gold membership and also buy from the store. But with silver you only get to buy from the store. hopes this clears things up for you.

    P.S. You’re Welcome

  4. Xbox Live is an online multiplayer gaming and digital media delivery service created and operated by Microsoft Corporation. It was first made available to the Xbox video game console. An updated version of the service became available for the Xbox 360 console at that system’s launch. Games for Windows – Live makes certain aspects of the system available on Windows Vista PCs, with plans to extend Live to other platforms such as handhelds and mobile phones as part of the Live Anywhere initiative.
